Pre-Cut Oars for Forward Rowing System

These pre-cut oars are ready to be installed in our Forward Facing Rowing System (FFRS).

These are flat blade fir oars, manufactured to the same high-quality standards as our traditional straight oars. We pre-cut these to length for you so you don't have to sacrifice your own favorite set of oars in order to use our Forward Rowing System. Note these are the pre-cut oars only; make sure you add the Forward Facing Rowing System mechanism to your cart here. 

When ordering, please answer these three questions so we can make sure to cut the oars to the right length for you:

1) What's your preferred length for regular straight oars?

The Forward Rowing System mechanism takes up about 6" of space, so when we cut your oars we'll make an allowance for that space and reduce the oar length accordingly. For example, if you usually use a pair of 8' straight oars, we'll cut your FFRS oars to 7'6." Note the maximum length for these pre-cut oars is 8' equivalent. If you need longer oars, we can do that but it requires a custom order -- contact us for a quote.

2) What is the width measurement of your boat, at the point along the gunwale where you would like to mount the Forward Facing Rowing System?

This measurement tells us how much of the oar length will be cut on the inboard (handle) end vs. the outboard (blade) end. Note the minimum gunwale-to-gunwale measurement for the FFRS is about 38." if your measurement is less than that, plan on building outrigger "wings" to attach the mounting brackets to, and provide the necessary support for the mechanism. 

3) Do you prefer your oar handles to overlap when you row?

Some rowers, particularly experienced scullers, prefer their hands to overlap instead of having their hands side by side with a gap beween the handles. If you don't know what this question means, don't worry about it -- just leave this answer blank and we'll cut the oars so there's a small gap between the oar handles when rowing.
